We’re excited to share the latest improvements to the Astro-COLIBRI platform. Here’s what’s new in version 2.22.0:
Sun & Moon Positions
- Following several requests (e.g. Sun and Moon on the map) you can now display the Sun and Moon positions on the sky map. Activate them in the “Map & coordinates settings”
- A new API endpoint /celestial_position provides access to their positions in both celestial and local coordinates.
Well-Localized GRBs
- We’ve added a new notification stream for well-localized gamma-ray bursts to allow for more efficient selection of follow-up opportunities. GRB with uncertainties ≤ 10 arcmin are selected for this stream. Note that this is a subset of the general GRB notifications, i.e. you should not subscribe to both to avoid duplicated notifications.
- A new GRB sub-filter lets you focus specifically on these high-precision events in the interface. Long-press the “GRB” filter button to customize the settings.
Observatories
- The MACE Telescope (Major Atmospheric Cerenkov Experiment Telescope) is now included in the list of pre-defined observatories. Learn more about MACE
- A dedicated interface is now available for members of the H.E.S.S. collaboration for the submission of H.E.S.S. Target of Opportunity (ToO) requests.
Minor Improvements & Bug Fixes
- Better support for smaller screens and lower resolutions in the web interface.
- Menu screens in landscape mode on the App now include a header and return button.
- Fixed email registration issues with domain names longer than 4 characters.
- Color scheme improvements:
- More uniform colors for cancel/close buttons.
- Updated TimePicker and DatePicker to match Astro-COLIBRI’s theme.
- Improved login screen styling across color modes.
As always, we welcome your feedback and are grateful for your continued support!
Clear skies,
The Astro-COLIBRI Team
