Gravitational wave observations paused

The first part of the O4 run of the LIGO interferometers detecting gravitational waves (GW) ended today. The instruments are now undergoing some minor improvements.

Observations of GWs by LIGO and VIRGO (!) are schedule to restart at 16:00 UTC on 27 March 2024. Fingers crossed for a successfull restart with many more (and better localised) detections. Unfortunately the KAGRA detector has been impacted by the significant earthquake on January 1st, 2024. Its participation in the observations will thus be delayed.
